‘Yanukovich debt’ will be considered in the Court of London. Will Ukraine pay to aggressor?

On January 17 the Court of London will consider the lawsuit of Russia against Ukraine, according to coming back of the so-called ‘Yanukovich debt’ of $3 billions. ‘TSN Ranok” (TV Service of the news Morning) reports about it. It’s known that Kyiv insists on debt restructuring, because the credit which Russia had given to escapee-president, ostensibly was commerce. At the same time Moscow confirms that Ukraine must give money back.

The court was appointed William Blair – brother of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who is considered one of the most respected British judges, who specializes in issues of public debt.

It’s expected that the hearing will last until the end of the week. Except the debt of $3 billion Russia demands from Ukraine to pay $75 millions more of the court costs and lost profits.

We add that sovereign character of the debt was recognized by IMF. Ukrainian Government introduced a moratorium on the coming back of the money to Russia, when the term of payment had last its end on December 2015.
