St. George’s ribbon is under a ban in Ukraine from today

The law on prohibition to on wearing and propaganda of St. George’s ribbon has come into force in Ukraine. Yesterday, on June 14, this document was published in official edition of ‘Golos Ukrainy’ (Voice of Ukraine).

The stardom from 850 to 2550 UAH (~$32 to $97) threatens for wearing the St. George ribbon. For re-use or wearing St. George ribbon – the penalty will be from 2 550 UAH to 5 100 UAH (~$97 to $196). In addition, it is possible to administrate up to 15 days. St. George’s ribbon or objects with its image will be seized anyway.

According to the text of the document, ines and penalties won’t affect the participants of the Second World War, who have awards, anniversary medals and other differences.

Otherwise, St. George’s ribbon can be scot-free used in museum expositions, library funds, works of art, in scientific activity and on the originals of combat banners.
