The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine together with OSCE will conduct the inventory of objects that carry an environmental and man-made threat on the territory of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. The head of a Ministry Ostap Semerak has reported about it.
‘There’s no need to be an expert to understand what circumstances for the environment the warfare brings in the region, where the largest number of mining enterprises and not only them is focused. Now there is a question No. 1 for us is to recover permanent environmental monitoring on these territories. You need to understand the whole complexity of the situation. The Ministry of Natural Resources has already agreed with the OSCE and began the project to inventory objects, carrying an environmental and man-made threat on the territory of Donetsk and Lugansk regions’, ‘Interfax-Ukraine’ cites the minister.
According to Semerak’s information, there is a catastrophic situation with the condition and quality of water – 50 from 113 water intakes are contaminated.
‘One of the main objects, that I’m going to visit will be the post of automatic environmental monitoring system in Kramatorsk city. I’ll say in advance, that The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the State Water Agency is ready to join the organization of automatic environmental monitoring system of waters in these regions’, the Minister claimed.
