The staff of the Security Service of Ukraine together with the General Prosecutor’s office exposed two judges from Dnepropetrovsk region, who were trying to bribe $300 000 the head of Specialized anti-corruption prosecutor’s office (SAP) Nazar Kholodnitsky. The press-service of SBU has reported about it.

Law enforcements have detected that the chairman of one of the district courts of Dnepr decided to ‘help’ to the subordinate judge to avoid criminal liability for the previously convicted fact of receiving a bribe, which is investigated by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine.

Security Service staff has documented that the chairman of a district court has managed to find out contacts with SAP head with an offer to ‘solve a question’.  

Nazar Kholodnitsky applied at the moment to General Prosecuror’s office.

SBU staff has detained both judges in Kyiv in the cabinet of the head of SAP in time of transferring of the first part of a bribe size of $50 000.

It’s significant that one of the judges, being under investigation, committed a new criminal offense. It’s noted that a measure of restraint was applied to her in the form of house arrest with the wearing of an electronic means of control and the prohibition to leave the settlement in which she lives.

Criminal proceedings have been opened in accordance with Part 4 of Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Both judges were detained under art. 208 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine. The issue of declaring a suspicion of committing a crime and electing a preventive measure in the form of detention is being decided. Immediate investigative actions are continuing.
