Fire in ‘Victoria’: former deputy mayor of Odessa handed a suspicion

The press-secretary of the General Prosecutor Larisa Sargan has shared the details of the investigation of fire in Odessa camp ‘Victoria’ as a result of which three girls died died at night on September 16.

‘In the course of the pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings on the fact of official negligence of officials of local government bodies and State Department of Emergency Situations in the Odessa region, which caused severe consequences in the form of a fire of the children’s health and sports complex “Victoria”, as a result of which three children were killed, 03.10.2017 by the regional prosecutor’s office reported on suspicion of a criminal offense under Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine former Deputy Mayor of Odessa Zvirinko Z. (dismissed on September 19, 2017), which followed failure to perform their official duties due to dishonest attitude towards them, being aware of the violation of fire safety rules in the above establishment, did not take measures to conclude contracts for servicing high-tech modern fire fighting systems, and also facilitated the settlement of children in a recreational and sports complex that was not actually was ready for use’, Larisa Sargan made a post in her Facebook.

There are searches is being held and issue about choosing of preventive measure is being solved.

We would remind that the police detained on suspicion of violating the fire safety rules in Odessa the director of the children’s camp “Victoria” (last night the fire that broke out there killed children) Petros Sarkisyan.
