New ‘Education Act’ in Ukraine: individual approach is promised to minorities

New ‘Educational Act’, considered by Verkhovna Rada and signed by the President of Ukraine provides individual approach to every national minority. This way will depend on peculiarities of the minority and its pedagogical needs. The Minister of education and science Liliya Grinevich has reported about it.

According to the head of main educational facility law also provides the ratio of the study of subjects ‘60 to 40’, where 60% of the time is devoted to the study of subjects in the state language, and 40% – is the native language. It’s supposed that a number of subjects, which is studied in Ukrainian, will grow step-by-step from 5th class and reach a ratio of 60 to 40 in 10th class.

We would remind that Hungary and Romania are together against new Ukrainian ‘Education Act’ and also bills about language and citizenship. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Siyatro claimed about it. According to his opinion Ukrainian ‘Education Act’ contradicts the agreement on association between Ukraine and the EU. The adoption of the law was like a ‘blow in the back’ of Hungary and Romania.
