Academician, condemned the Russian aggression against Ukraine, died in RF

Academician, Soviet and Russian scientist, political and public figure Yuri Ryzhov died on the 87th year in Moscow.

According to the report of Moscow Helsinki Group, the farewell to Yuri Alekseevich will be held in the Sakharov Center. It will become known later about time and date.

Yuri Ryzhov was born in October 28, 1930. He was a Member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, a member of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in 1989-1990. In 1992-1999 he worked as ambassador of Russia in France. He also is well-known by his human rights activity, he was awarded in 2016 by the IHG Prize for his historical contribution to the protection of human rights and the human rights movement.

In September 2014 Ryzhov signed a statement with the demand to ‘stop aggressive escapade: to withdraw Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine and stop propagandist, material and military support of separatists on the South-East of Ukraine’.

According to his opinion, expressed in January 2015, ‘Russia has come to a complete dead end. It entered the system crisis, which in Russian is called Smuta, somewhere in the region of 2009-2010’.
