Ukrainians massively take back deposits from Russian banks

For the first six months of a current year PJSC ‘Sberbank’ has become a leader in the outflow of deposits in Ukraine. The press-service of the National Bank of Ukraine reports about it.

Ukrainians took back from PJSC ‘Sberbank’ deposits by UAH 509.4 million ($19.75 mln.), a decrease became 28.3%.

From “VTB Bank” (“daughter” of the Russian VTB) for six months of this year, deposits were raised by UAH 301.9 million ($11.71 mln.) (17.8%), from PJSC Prominvestbank (a subsidiary of the Russian state-owned Vnesheconombank) – UAH 282.26 million ($10.95 mln.) (11.8%).

As for the outflow of foreign currency deposits, here in absolute terms the leader is the nationalized PrivatBank at the end of last year. In the first six months of 2017, Ukrainians withdrew $124.35 million from the financial institution. However, in percentage terms, this is only 4%, while for Sberbank the outflow of $69.45 million was 19.8%. From “VTB Bank” took away $25.34 million (24.3%), from “Prominvestbank” – $21.1 million (20%).
