St. Petersburg dwellers brought to Ukraine consulate flowers and cried: ‘Glory to Ukraine! Glory to Heroes!’

Activists of ‘Molodezhnoe yabloko’ (Young Apple) and Petersburg’s ‘Solidarity’ remember and know about the Revolution of Dignity and held the action in honour of died on Maidan. ‘Radio Svoboda’ reported that nearly 40 people took part in action. The event was on Wednesday evening, on February 22.

It’s known that participants of actions came to the underground station ‘Chernyshevskaya’ with flowers from which they came by feet on Bonch-Bruevich street where Ukraine consulate is located. In time of people were following on Shpalernaya street, activists were escorted by police car. Later, near Smolny one more law enforcement crew joined them and not less than five cars were on the scene.

According to the report, citizens with ‘Novorossiya’ flags were waiting for people with flowers near consulate. They insulted come and deliberately filmed marching, shining in their eyes with bright lights. At the same time the police prevented clashes.

Activists laid down flowers and lighted up candles near the Ukraine consulate fence. There was well-known public activist, an artist Elena Osipova with the poster, on which 100 cranes flying in the sky were shown, among the participants of the action. The Petersburg paysage, symbolic gift to Ukraine, was in the other hand of an artist.

Action participants shouted ‘Glory to Ukraine! Glory to Heroes!’. Their opponents cried ‘Glory to Russia!’ in reply. Policemen threatened that they would take screamers from the both sides and demanded not to turn action into the rally. Some cops all the time were between two hostile groups. As a result memory action finished peacefully.
