National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has detained three people in the case of the purchase of backpacks for the Ministry of Internal Affairs: ex-deputy minister, representative of the winning firm of the tender and another private person. There are Alexander Avakov and Sergey Chebotar, earlier worked as Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, among detainees.
It was reported earlier that General Prosecutor’s Office on July 2015 has begun a criminal investigation on purchases of backpacks for the National Guard. As noted by journalist Roman Bochkala, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine purchased backpacks for 3 thousand UAH (~$111.2) per piece for a total of 14.5 million UAH (~$540 000).
On September last year it was reported that investigation was taking its final…
MIA staff claimed that information about illegal deals with buying backpacks is fake and its goal is to discredit the institution.
Not so long ago the video about detention of son of the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov – Alexander was published. This information appeared in Politeka edition Youtube page.
Later, The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) sent a petition to the court to select a preventive measure for the suspect in financial fraud son of Minister of MIA Arsen Avakov Alexander Avakov.
At the same time it turned out that in spite of all judicial decisions there is no electronic bracelet available for ALexander Avakov. SAP prosecutor Alexander Snegirev has reported about it.
He also informed that Avakov jr. must hand over all passports, until this point the issue with the electronic bracelet won’t be resolved.
‘Let’s talk about the bracelet later, there is not enough of them at the moment. I’m not ready to answer you on this question and nobody won’t answer you’, the prosecutor told.
