Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant: Poroshenko told about putting into operation the ‘Shelter’ object

New object ‘Shelter’ above the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant reactor will be put into operation on November. The President of Ukraine Peter Poroshenko claimed about it in time of visiting the station together with the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, LIGA.net reports.

Poroshenko and Lukashenko visited objects in Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant and honored the memory of the dead.

‘We finished the procedure on November 30, 2016. It was the first stage of covering of old sarcophagus over the fourth power unit in its original position. On current November we’re going to put this confinement into operation. This will give an opportunity to carry out works safely’, Poroshenko claimed. He added that during all working process ‘any of staff didn’t get the liquidator status and didn’t receive a hazardous dose of radiation’.

Moreover, Ukrainian leader said that ‘after putting into operation this guarantees at least a hundred years of safe use’, and accented that ‘it’s one of the most ambitious engineering projects in the history of mankind’.
