Elections in “DPR” will be held according to Ukrainian laws

The head of the “DPR” Aleksandr Zaharchenko set a date of “elections” to local councils on the occupied territory. dan-news.info reported that elections would be held on October 18. According to his words elections will be organized “due to the Law of Ukraine «On temporary Order of Local Self-Governance in Particular Districts of Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts», and according to paragraphs 4 and 12 of the “Minsk agreements” from February 12, 2015.

Heads of cities and districts will be elected on October 18”, — Zaharchenko specified. Suitability of elections of district, city, village councils’ deputies will be determined considering specifications of the Republic normative base, financial opportunities and citizens’ claims.

To preserve grounds of political administration borders of regions, cities and villages, polling stations and names of self-government bodies and posts of elected persons will be used as in past years, defined by pre-war legislation”, — the massage said.

As it was reported earlier, “DPR” fighters’ representative on the Minsk negotiations Denis Pushilin announced that organization of local elections and release of captives and detainees are impossible without declaration of amnesty to participants of the conflict in Donbass. Pushilin states that the law on amnesty was frozen and wasn’t adopted by Ukrainian government.
