Thousands school children and students, who live on occupied territory, became hostages of military conflict in Eastern Ukraine. While building of “education system” in “young state”, those young people have to make difficult decision – try one’s luck in Russia or enter one of “LPR’s” “rebellious” university.

Ukrainian passport + school leaving certificate of LPR

During last year authorities of the “Ministry of Education of the LPR” promised school graduates that certificates of the “LPR” will be recognized in the RF. Same promises were also made by Russian Ministry of Education and Science.

At the same time there are still many questions. Russia didn’t officially recognize “republics” and it classifies events in Eastern Ukraine as “civil war”. On what grounds it will recognize diplomas of those “republics”?

Russia finally found a way to do that – officials remembered a law of 1999 “On State Policy of the Russian Federation towards Compatriots Abroad”.

According to this law citizens of Ukraine can enter universities of Russia and get state-financed places according to their exams and competitions, which they will pass within entrance campaign of universities.

“We don’t recognize diplomas of “DPR” and “LPR”. We recognize them equivalent to Ukrainian”, — summarized the Education Minister of RF Dmitry Livanov.

Entrants must have document about education, issued by LPR, and passport of Ukrainian citizen to enter Russian university and put in a claim for state-financed place. Also graduates had to pass Single State Exam and present their results.

We’ve wrote earlier that a number of people, who will try to study in Russia, will not exceed 834 persons – that’s the number of pupils, who passed SSE.

Entrance campaign 2015 in republic is ongoing and we are sure that official media of Luhansk republic will report about “excellent” results no matter what. That is why we don’t even hope to hear real number of pupils, who entered Russian universities. Just as they hided information about number of republican graduates, who had got Russian diplomas.

Stay in Republic

I suppose there is no need to remind about bad economic situation in “LPR”. And only few parents can afford to send their children to study in Russia. That is why many school leavers will stay in “LPR”.

Entrance campaign to “republican” universities started on July 1. Here officials are happy to talk about numbers.

According to separatist newspaper “XXI century” for July 18, 534 applications were submitted to “Luhansk Vladimir Dahl University” and “DonGTU” (Alchevsk). 538 applications were submitted to “Luhansk Tarasa Shevchenko University”. 405 applications – to “LGAKI”. “Luhansk Agricultural University” got 475 applications.

Now it is early to talk about results of this campaign, because many students applied to more than one university.

We would underline the fact that in comparison with years before the war competition of university entrants has decreased significantly. We have to mention here diplomas, which will be not recognized beyond “republics”. Conclusion is that education system on the territory, uncontrolled by Ukraine, is destroying by its own workers.
