The Liberation and withdrawal were celebrated in Luhansk ahead of schedule

The Holiday concert to the Day of Liberation of Lugansk from Nazi invaders and the withdrawal of the anniversary of the Soviet troops from Afghanistan took place in the Culture palace of Luhansk. The celebration was made anticipatorily, considering that both of these events will be next week.

Separatist websites report that different creative collectives performed for WWII veterans and to warriors-internationalists.

‘Top brassers’ also sounded their celebrations, which were represented in traditional Russian propaganda style.  

Info: Luhansk (Voroshilovgrad at that times) was liberated from Nazi invaders in February, 14 1943 during Voroshilov operation by the Red Army from the South-Western Front. 3rd Guards Army, commanded by Lieutenant-General Dmitry Lelyushenko and 5th Panzer Division of General Ivan Shlemin fought for the city. Luhansk was occupied 212 days by Germany.

The Memorial Day of combatants, who performed combat duty outside the Fatherland (soldiers-internationalists) is celebrated on February, 15. This day is considered the official date of completion of the withdrawal of Soviet forces from Afghanistan in 1989. More than 8 000 soldiers, fought in Afghanistan were from Luhansk region, 162 people died.
