Representatives of unrecognized republics are calling Ukrainian government in Contact group not to give IDPs the right of vote on local elections. Roman Bessmertny, the representative of Ukraine in the subrgoup claimed about it reports hromadske.tv.
According to his words, “DPR” and “LPR” are insist that those who live on the appropriate territory can live. However, in conformity with documents of UN, Ukraine must provide voting right to migrant Ukrainians.
“Ukrainian state must provide the realization of rights to them, but how to do it, if that side is saying that they don’t have neither voting right, nor nominate themselves as candidates” – noticed diplomatist.
As it was reported earlier, Verkhovna Rada has accepted by 257 votes on July 14 new law about local elections. According to the new legislation, voting for deputies of local councils must be only on the presentation of a passport with a stamp of registration of residence. New law actually deprives IDPs the opportunity to form local organs of power, because migrants, according to legislation of Ukrain, has such stamp in the certificate of displaced person, not in passport.
