Google has commented the translation of Ukrainian collocation “Rosiiska Federatsiya” (Russian Federation) as “Mordor”. The representative of Google explained to journalists of information agency “RusBusinessConsalting” (RBC) that Google Translate is the automatic translator, which works without participation of people, using only algorithms.
“When Google Translate creates automatic translation, it uses the samples from hundreds of millions of documents to determine which variant could be most right, noticed the representative of the company.
But automatic translation is the “very difficult system”, because the meaning of the words depends on context in which they are used. That’s why mistakes and wrong translations could happen and we try to correct them as soon as it possible”, told the representative of Google.
As it was reported earlier, the messages that Google Translate translates from Ukrainian “Rosiiska Federatsiya” (Russian Federation) as “Mordor” on Russian and surname “Lavrov” as “sad little horse” and “Rosiyany” (Russians) as occupants.
