Diplomatic representative of the Pope in Ukraine held the service in occupied Luhansk

Diplomatic representative of the Pope in Ukraine Claudio Gugerotti held the Sunday service in Luhansk Roman Catholic parish of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Assistant Bishop of Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhya Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church Yan Sobilo accompanied the ambassador.

Vatican Nuncio congratulated Luhansk rimo- and Greek Catholics with coming X-mas holidays and also conveyed greetings from the Pope.

‘I’m very happy, that a week before Christmas, by the Calendar which celebrates Catholic and a little bit more by Calendar, which after Greek Catholics will celebrate, I have an opportunity to be with you. The Pope sent me here to say concretely next: ‘Tell them, that I’m with them, say it loud. Say them, that I don’t forget about them, I pray every day for this war is over’.

Diplomat reported, that he’s going to meet with the representatives of Luhansk Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC-MP) of the Moscow Patriarchate, but “no more meetings are planned”, the ambassador applied to parish.

‘There are really troubles, because in place where is a war no normal life… And any efforts, which are done by governments are not enough, while real world won’t come’, Gugerotti noticed.
