Four Ukrainian heroes posthumously awarded the Presidential Award

The President of Ukraine Petr Poroshenko has awarded 72 militaries, got injured in time of warfare in Donbass. Four defenders received awards posthumously. Website of the Head of state reports about it.  

So, 8 militaries awarded Order ‘For courage’ III degree, 4 of them died in time of shellings.

Senior soldier Ilya Jabitsky. Died September 23, 2016 in time of mortar fire of Zaitsevo. Buried in the Alley of Heroes of city cemetery of Vynnytsya. He was the only son of his single mother.  

Senior soldier Vitaly Kostenko. Died August 17, 2016 in time of mortar shelling near Avdeevka.

Sergeant Alexander Otsareba. Died November 11, 2016 near Toretsk as a result of shrapnel injuries received in the explosion of a landmine. The doctors did everything they could, but sometimes doctors are powerless. Hero was buried on November 13 in Panasovka village.

Soldier Alexander Yatsun. He was on a mission in ATO zone from November 2014 to April 2015. He defended Donetsk International Airport, had served in Opytne and Vodyane. He received fatal gunshot wound on April 19, 2015 in time of insurgents shooting on the Ukrainian positions.

Wounded sailor Alexander Frytag, who had served from August 2014 on the advance in ATO zone, awarded Order ‘For courage’ III degree. In particular, military was on a mission in Shirokino. He timely detected sabotage and reconnaissance group of the enemy in October 2016 and came to blows with the opponent, as a result he was seriously injured.

64 militaries, got injured in ATO zone, awarded medal ‘Defender of the Fatherland’.
