Lutkovskaya: I don’t believe that pensioners from occupied part of Donbass are financing terrorism

The Commissioner for Human Rights of VR of Ukraine Valery Lutkovska considers that pensioners, who left on the occupied territory, can’t finance terrorism, even if they get payments. Otherwise, according to her words, Ukraine must pay all pensions to pensioners. She reported about it in the interview to ‘112 Ukraine’ channel.

‘I don’t believe and have sarcasm attitude to the idea that pensioner, getting 1200 – 1800 UAH (~$60-80) will also finance terrorism. Also this is about alone mothers, who left with child in her hands, she doesn’t give any money, which paid as social benefits, to terrorists too’, Lutkovskaya stressed and added that Kyiv must think about other ways of terrorism financing. In particular coal purchase from uncontrolled territories.

‘The purchases of coal from uncontrolled territories is the really serious question. Who buys coal? I’m not a specialists in heating issues and functioning of central heat and electricity. I’m a specialist in the question that right on pensions and social benefits mustn’t violated. It’s impossible to blame pensioners in terrorism financing in time when you buy coal by yourselves. And in this situation we must pay pensions. And we hadn’t involved the mechanism how to realise it yet – it’s the state problem, but not a problem of pensioners, who can’t move away from uncontrolled territory by different reasons’, Lutkovskaya resumed.
