Rector of the Lugansk National University (LNU) named after Shevchenko Elena Tregubenko awarded a diploma and a badge of honorary doctor of psychological sciences taken Russian citizenship to the American mixed martial arts (MMA) Jeff Monson.
Monson, known by his love to RF and Donbass separatists was humored ‘for effective activities aimed at popularization of spiritual values, healthy lifestyles among students, as well as a significant contribution to the development of international cooperation, physical culture and sports’.
Monson has claimed himself: ‘I feel right at home in Russia and in Luhansk… I feel that people, who live here, are like my own nation, my family… I want to express gratitude for that great honor which the university has rendered to me by the award. Sport and psychology are extremely important’.

American sportsman has claimed in 2014, that he gave documents to get Russian citizenship. He got RF passport on December 2015.
He took part in a concert in Lugansk devoted to the 221-th anniversary of the founding of the city on September 10, 2016.. During the event, the leader of self-proclaimed ‘LPR’ Igor Polotnitsky solemnly presented to Monson the passport of the pseudo-republic. In the same month, Monson held the first demonstration training for potential students of his sports school in Lugansk (operates on the basis of the Lugansk Aviation and Sports Club).
‘I’m an anarchist, who wants to end the class hierarchy in society and those institutions that generate this inequality’, Monson claimed in one interview. He has few thematic tattoos on the body, among which (on the right shoulder) are the Russian words ‘freedom’ and ‘solidarity’, the image of the sickle and hammer on the left shin, and the red and black star on the chest is a symbol of anarcho-communism. One of his tattoos, Monson got in Orenburg in 2014.
Monson was accused on January 14, 2009 in Washington in malicious damage to property of the first degree for the fact that he committed an act of vandalism, painting the symbols of anarchy and peace, and also making the inscription ‘no poverty’ and ‘no war’ on the columns of the Capitol.
The warrant was issued by the Supreme Judge of Thurston County, when photos of Monson, who was painting with a can, appeared in the magazine ‘ESPN’. On July 29, 2009, Monson pleaded guilty and received 90 days’ imprisonment and 21 894 dollars fine.
Jeff claimed in spring 2016 that he wants to enter CPRF, noted: ‘As an ardent supporter of communist thought, I’m sure that socialism is the only way to peaceful existence of the mankind’.
