The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin has published in British issue The Guardian a column called ‘Putin in his aspiration to New Russian Empire won’t stop on Ukraine’. MFA head, in particular, has pointed in it the things to understand what moves Russia and Vladimir Putin to such way of behaviour.

The first is ‘Russian world’. Klimkin explained that it’s a philosophy, which raises to Soviet era. The conviction that Ukraine is a part of big Russia is central in it. MFA head claims that Russia’s desire for hegemony doesn’t end only at Ukraine. The Minister noticed that it also applies to other former states and satellites of the Soviet Union and in more wide sense RF is going to destabilize the situation in the rest of Europe.

The second factor is a hybrid war, which was widely represented by Crimea annexation and Donbass invasion. Klimkin writes that modern technologies are used in such way of warfare. Minister noted that the hybrid war went further than just television and the Internet. He reminded about ‘troll factories’ and said that ‘RF is lying on an industrial scale’.

And the third one, Klimkin assures, it’s possible to talk with Russia only from a position of strength.

‘Russia and every diplomat, dealing with Kremlin, say it, respects only strength and only negotiations from a position of strength and international solidarity must be with them’, the Minister writes.

He noted that RF exploits weakness. According to his words, it’s happening during bilateral negotiations and also it uses UN Security Council weakness, where it abuses its veto as one of the five permanent members.

Minister added that Russia now is the biggest threat to safety and unity of West since 1945.

‘There can be no question of lifting the sanctions’, the MFA head writes and emphasizes that sanctions are more influenced on Russia, than Kremlin recognizes.

‘They slowly increase the possibility of Russia to destabilize Europe and the world’, Klimkin confirms.
