Odessa: Activists made authority of the city to dismantle a memorial stone to marshal Zhukov

Supporters of the Communist party have mounted on ex- marshal Zhukov avenue (now Heavenly hundreds avenue) a memorial stone to Soviet personality. The stone was dismantled on May 7 at the insistence of local activists.

A memorial stone had the inscription: ‘The monument to marshal of Victory, Hero of Soviet Union G. K. Zhukov will be mounted here from grateful veterans and residents of the city-hero of Odessa with the support of the Communist Party’.

The process sparked controversy: National police staff, activists and Communist party supporters were at the scene. Meanwhile, authorities listened to the demands of activists and though the stone was dismantled.
