The second all-Ukrainian festival ‘Songs, born in ATO’ took place in Dnipro. The musical and patriotic event was organized by Dnipro Regional State Administration and Dnipro Regional Association of Unions of ATO veterans. Invited by organizers military radio ‘Army FM’ become the General radio partner of the festival.
According to the report of the Ministry of Defense website, the singers and performers from many parts of the country and representatives of the best combat units. Festival united talented soldiers, who were singing their author compositions, chosen by jury. Singers were met by a big audience, which included musicians, volunteers, journalists and civils, in the hall of the summer theatre of Shevchenko’s park of Dnipro city.
Participants sang songs about love to Motherland, the experience got at war, the pain of losses, the joy of victories and fighting friendship. According to words of one of the festival laureates, who performed song ‘Forward for Ukraine!’, the events turns in everyone’s presence in the scale music military and patriotic project.
Another laureate, military paratrooper, reserve sergeant Jury Suslo with the song ‘Ashes’ tooks part in the festival for the second time. He says that songs and music made a great support at war and sometimes chose life.
‘Our paratrooper unit has ascended a mountain Karachun. It was hot and there was a full swing of cruel fightings. We at the moment began to make an arrangement of positions. Suddenly I saw my comrade Victor ran to me with something like a sack. He came closer and said: ‘Look what I’ve found – the guitar!’. It was a real miracle. Everything closer is on fire, and here is such a finding – almost new musical instrument and it was configured. Life at war changed from that day. Soon, on the background of tragic events, connected with the death of my comrades and difficult warfare situation, my first song ‘What should I say?’ was born.
The defender of Donetsk International Airport Vladimir Semishkin performed heartfelt song. He sang the song ‘Posthumously hero’ together with ‘4-5- +’ band.
Well-known artists, rock-groups and volunteers also took part in three-hour concert.
Festival organizers welcomed laureates and wished them further success. Following the results of the festival the second musical album ‘Songs born in ATO’ will be recorded and issued on CD.
