How children’s rights are protected in Ukraine

Deputy Chairman of the Lugansk Regional State Administration Olga Lishik told, what measures to protect children’s rights are implemented by an authority of the region.

So, the building of two houses of family type in Novopskov and Belovodsk districts is planned. More than 500 thousand of hryvnias (~$18946) have been already allocated from the regional budget for design estimates.

According to statistics 109 696 children live in controlled by Ukrainian power territory. 1412 kids are in services for children on the primary registration of orphans and those who are deprived of parental care. Among them 1023 children are brought up in the families of guardians and trustees.

‘We try to do our best to children, who get orphan status, have not been to residential institutions for a long time. We’re looking for adoptive parents to them. The Children’s Affairs Service works very cleverly in this direction. So, 40 kids, 36 from whom are citizens of Ukraine, were adopted. In this year 8 children found their parents, 6 from them are adopted by Ukrainian citizens’, Olga Lishik told.  

Deputy Chairman of the Lugansk Regional State Administration payed an attention that 14 children’s homes of a family type, where 92 children are being brought up as well as 86 foster families with 159 children.

One such Children’s home was formed in 2016, 9 foster families got 27 children. Current year – 2 Children’s houses appeared as well as two families, in which 14 children are in.

Unfortunately, during 2016-2017 226 kids orphaned. But 157 from them had been arranged in family forms of education, 44 children – in facilities.
