Unknown looters have copied the official website of the Ukrainian mobile operator Vodafone and published news about stop of work of the company on the territory of self-proclaimed ‘LPR’ and ‘DPR’ from July 1. This caused panic even among the ‘authority of republics’. The fake was debunked by TGorlovka edition.
It’s noted in the post at TGorlovka website that links on the news of website vodafon.pp.ua, in which there was a confirmation about stop of work of Vodafone in NGCA, begin to appear on June 9.
‘We regret to inform you that as a result of repeated acts of vandalism, as well as due to the lack of access by our specialists to the equipment of the company, located in Non-Government Controlled Areas and interference in the work of a network of unidentified persons, Vodafone company forced to stop servicing of subscribers of these regions from July 1, 2017’, the information told at this website.
Two popular news portals Novorossia.su and ‘Gorlovskaya pravda’ have published this information after that, but Horlovka resource has published soon a rebuttal.
First, so-called ‘Minister of connection’ of ‘DPR’ Victor Yatsenko believed in the report from fake website.
‘So, Vodafone has made an official statement that they switch off connection with LPR and DPR. Three years they were working somehow, were taking away hundreds of millions, not investing anything and now they turn it off’, Yatsenko wrote in the Telegram-channel of ‘republic Ministry of connection’.
But later he clarified that this message was fake: ‘So, we live on) Thanks to fake creators for morning emotions’.
As the support of Vodafone claimed to TGorlovka, the website vodafon.pp.ua, on which this news was published, is the counterfeit of the official website vodafone.ua. There are no information about stop of work on ‘LPR’ and ‘DPR’ territory at the official website of the operator.
Domain vodafon.pp.ua was registered in a free domain zone .pp.ua. To register alike domain you need only to have Ukrainian, Russian, Belarusian, Georgian or Kazakh mobile phone number.
According to Whois data the domain was registered on June 9. The owner of domain decided to hide his name, but left an address – 11, Bandera street.
At the moment of a publication the domain vodafon.pp.ua hs the status serverDeleteProhibited, this means the existence of legal disputes related to this domain.
