‘We alive’: Works of children from the front-line cities of Donetsk region were shown in Kyiv

The exhibition ‘We alive’ has taken place in the Kyiv gallery ‘IZONE’ under the support of ‘Isolation’ Fund. Works of kids from the frontline cities of Mariinka and Krasnohorivka are presented on it.

‘There is a huge Classic game in the exhibition hall, but to jump on it you are forced to overcome many obstacles, including fragments and shells from ammos, barbed wire. This idea of the organizers reflects the reality in which the children of front-line cities have to live. The media-center was organized in Mariinka to help them to distract from the war and to occupy themselves’, dotb.dn.ua reports. Professional journalists, who conducted trainings for children, taught how to make high-quality photos and videos, have come there at the invitation of the founder of the media center Oleg Tkachenko. Soon, kids themselves began to photo everything around them, the world around.

‘So, pictures appeared, on which there are two realities, two parallel worlds – children’s smiles, beautiful girls’ portraits, funny games and near with this – buildings are demolished, school, class, which doesn’t have a wall and floor of it is full of bricks and kids are sitting at desks… So, photos are alternating in the hall: snapshots of damages and happy, smiling children’, the edition notes.

First photo-exhibition took place in Kherson on June of this year. Now – Kyiv. Next photo-exhibition of pupils of Mariinka media-center will take place in Kharkiv on August 22.

‘We want all Ukraine to open its eyes and to see that we have opened wound today, we have pain and trouble and it’s impossible to turn away from it – sooner or later we still have to do something about it’, Oleg Tkachenko emphasized.
