The driver, knocked to death 17-year-old guy in Mariinka district and escaped from the scene of an accident, was detained in Donetsk region. Police PR-Department in Donetsk region has reported about it.

The tragedy has happened in Kurakhovo on Zaporozhsky avenue near the railway station. After the report about an accident, law enforcements began a complex of a set of search activities and put into effect the plan ‘Interception’.

Working with eyewitnesses, law enforcements established nearly mark, car colour and direction of movement of the driver. Otherwise, safety inspectors road safety inspectors found a windshield with blood traces on the roadside, which also contained an insurance coupon indicating the registration number of the vehicle, which narrowed the search area.

As a result of the operational-search measures, police officers detained the driver in the Krasnohorivka residence in half an hour.

It was detected that on September 18, nearly 7:20 pm man was driving ‘VAZ-2106’ from the side of a bus station. At the same time 17-year-old Kurakhovo resident was moving in front of a car in the aisle.

‘According to preliminary data, the driver was in a state of intoxication and hit a guy. From the injuries he died on the spot’, tells the message.

Currently, the detainee gives testimony about the circumstances of the accident, preparing an application to the court to elect a preventive measure in the form of detention against the driver.

On this fact, criminal proceedings were opened in accordance with Part 2 of Article 286 ‘Violation of the rules of road safety or the operation of vehicles by persons driving vehicles, which caused the death of the victim’ of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Pre-trial investigation continues.
